The Best Dry Shampoo for Thin Hair

If you have thin hair, then you can probably relate to most of my struggles. My hair gets greasy quickly, falls flat and gets tangled as soon as I stop brushing it. I used to think that I was just unlucky and would have ugly trunchbull crappy hair my whole life. But then I started making adult wages and learned that you can’t buy crappy and cheap hair products and expect to have beautiful celebrity quality hair. Unless you have some amazing genes and are extremely lucky you can’t be using suave and herbal essences and thinking your hair is going to look like Lauren Conrads. It just doesn’t happen. Thus my journey began with investing in higher quality hair products. And boy- does it make a difference!

Thin Hair Problems

This is my first article in a four part series about hair care for thin haired beauties. I will share my hair tips for: the best dry shampoo for thin hair, how to get a silky smooth blowout, best conditioning and moisturizing products and how to achieve beautiful loose wavy-curls. These are all tribulations I have faced me entire adult life, and feel like I have really started to get a handle on my tresses. Enjoy!

The Struggle of Trying Every Dry Shampoo Possible

I have tried essentially every dry shampoo that is available at the drug stores. From Herbal Essences, to Baptiste and Dove. I was desperately trying to get in on this “extend the life of your shampoo” train. Unfortunately none of these cheap-y mass produced brands seemed to work for me. Maybe first thing in the morning they would absorb the oil from my roots and look good temporarily. Then I would get to work, look in the bathroom mirror and be embarrassed- these products did not last! Within an hour or so my hair was greasy, would appear white from the spray and they all smelled gross.

I talked with my hairdresser and she convinced me that the problem was not my hair. She explained that essentially any type of hair can be trained to go longer between washes. The problem was using crappy products. So I experimented for a while and am product to say for the last year I have been loyal to the best dry shampoo I have used- milk_shake dry shampoo.

My Savior: milk_shake Dry Shampoo

milk-shake Dry Shampoo will run you around $22 from Amazon, however it’s a giant bottle and you don’t have to keep reapplying as frequently as the cheap version of dry shampoo, so it will last you longer.

If you want a step by step guide on how to use dry shampoo- check out my guide here.

Why I love the milkshake dry shampoo

Why I love milk_shake Dry Shampoo

First of all, it doesn’t smell disgusting like other dry shampoos, so I’m going to start with that right off the bat. It’s has a fresh and girly kind smell, which I realize isn’t the best description, but that’s what I’ve got for you.

It’s very lightweight, so it gives your hair body while absorbing the excess oil. Every other product I used felt like it just sat in my scalp all day and eventually weighed my hair down. The milk_shake dry shampoo seems to actually absorb the oil and doesn’t leave a build-up of white product behind. I generally apply it before bed and then again in the morning and my hair stay voluminous and fresh feeling all day!

But the best benefit I would say I get from this product is the length of time I can now go between washes. I used to literally have to wash my hair every day, otherwise I felt like a grease monkey. I can now extend my wash and condition anywhere from 3-5 days. Which is absolutely amazing because I color my hair. the less frequent I have to wash and shampoo my hair, the longer my color stays vibrant and pigmented.

Bottom Line- Invest in Some Quality Hair Products!

So, the bottom line is- if you have thin hair and have not had success with dry shampoo, I would really recommend trying this product and training your hair with it. It has totally changed up my hair care routine and I really hope it can do the same for you! If you want to give it a whirl, it’s available on Amazon prime, so you can be spraying this lovely stuff into your hair two days from now!

  1. People in my area don’t know that shampoos that grow your hair faster and longer (obviously with no sulfates, no parabens or DEA) exist. We now may have longer hair and enjoy more alternatives. Certainly worth looking into it.

If you’re studying alopecia, damaged hair, preventing hair disorders, hair growth, hair health at large, similar principles actualize.

As a general rule, you should try to steer clear of hair treatments and products that use chemicals such as parabens, DEA or sulfates.

What is healthy for your hair is healthy for your skin as well.

Clearly the content on this page is spot on for many reasons. It avoids the usual pitfalls and pitfalls too many fall into- using horrible alternatives. Keep up the great content!
